Aliens are referred as such due to them being unknown beings to the individual or an extraterrestrial being out of the natural environment. In this case, aliens are outsiders to a person's outside world.

Forms/Appearances
Aliens, if they have knowledgeable in their current world, will usually take form of the inhabitants inside that world. If they don't know much of their world, they will usually appear in their regular forms, much to the dismay of that world's regulars. In both cases, they will gather data and information from their current situation. Most times, they will not know the way of communication with others, and do not understand the logic or understanding of the inhabitants. Depending on their situation, they will try to take advantage of that by either appearing as an introvert to better gathering data without their own confrontation, or seeming adapt to their ways to understand inhabitants and gather data in their own way.
Abilities
Depending on their factions, aliens have their own set of powers. If their faction is highly-potent and big, it is likely that an alien from that direct faction will be more powerful than another one from a lower, less-powerful one.
These abilities can include, but are not limited to,
- Manipulating space in a near-by radius
- Memory configuration
- Creating objects from "no mass"
- Data manipulation
- Enhanced, superhuman endurance, strength and speed
And maybe more, due to the above stated fact. An example of these powers from least-potent to maximized power would be the battle between Ryoko Asakura and Yuki Nagato. Since Yuki had a more "direct" connection with the faction of the Integrated Data Entity and Asakura represented an opposing view from a radical faction with less "power" than Yuki's, she was able to gain the upper hand in the battle and ultimately won against Asakura.
It is important to note that although they seem powerful, aliens are not immortal, as with the case of the late Asakura. If their connection of their data link is severed from their faction, or more fitting, their "creator", they cannot stabilize their body by themselves, and will ultimately be destroyed.
Factions and Groups
As of now, there are only two types of factions known in the Fictional Realm: the Integrated Data Entity and the The Sky Canopy Dominion (a.k.a. The Macrospatial Quantum Cosmic Existence)

Punishment
Although not usual and more rare, consequences will always follow from an alien's superiors, almost always swift and merciless. Actions that usually cause these types of punishments are: disobeying higher ranked orders, causing direct intrusion with a mission/collection of data, continually disturbing the "natural flow of events", or drastic measures for any reason.
There are many types of punishment, although all are severe. If their actions were too extreme and cannot be repaired, they will most likely have their data link severed, and will disappear from existence. Lesser, albeit less common, forms of consequences will usually effect them in a direct way. This could include having powers and abilities stripped, communication with other lifeforms and/or their faction disabled, or not returning to that world.
Most types of punishments will depend on what faction they belong too.
