Gate Seekers are branch of Sliders that focuses on building Gates that connects Celestia to Fictional Worlds.

Gates

Gate is a device that connects Celestia to a Fictional World. When established, people from both end of the Gates can travel freely between each other through the gates. When there is already an established gate for a world, even Sliders prefer to use the Gate to travel between worlds as sliding takes a lot of effort to preform.

How Gates are Created

Gates are built from various tropes from the world that it connects to. To build a gate that connect to a certain world, almost all of the tropes concerning the world is required. Tropes themselves have no physical form, but they can be turned into physical form by special devices called Harvesters. All Gate Seekers carry around a Harvester. By default, Harvesters look like a large bags, but many Gate Seekers customize it to look like any object they want. Some Gate Seekers integrate Harvesters with their weapons.

Gate Seekers

Tropes are only produced off Fictional Worlds and not in Celestia. However, sometimes a trope can randomly wander into Celestia. Before sliding was invented, residents of Celestia built gates by collecting tropes that randomly appeared across Celestia. Tropes were scarce and the type of gates that could be built was limited. However, when the Sliding was invented, Sliders could now easily travel across the Fictional Universe and gather the materials needed. Thus Gate Seekers branch was formed amongst the sliders.

Gate Seekers specialize in mostly identifying and harvesting tropes in Fictional Worlds. When they find a new unexplored world, they stay in the world long enough to gather enough tropes to build a gate that connects Celestia to that world. Harvesting tropes is a difficult skill that takes years to master. As building Gates has nothing to do with Sliders' main job of Demon extermination, few sliders decide to become a Gate Seeker.
