Lucky Star
Kanata Izumi was Konata Izumi's mother, who was also very short and bore a striking resemblance to Konata. She is described by Konata and Sōjirō Izumi as having a personality straight out of a bishōjo game. She died when Konata was an infant of unspecified causes and her only appearances in the manga are through a single photograph and through Sōjirō's memory.
Kanata:Slider - Councilor
She was chosen as a slider after her death, which makes her a spirit type slider. She is very famous amongst the people in Celestia because of her accomplishments. She is ranked 3rd amongst all the sliders in the organization. Nobody has seen her real slider power because she is never seen using it. Instead, she uses the world object “feather” acquired from the world of “Air” which grants her similar powers as winged beings from that dimension. She visits her home world from time to time to check on how her family is doing.

One day Kanata receives a strange looking book that Maguro Hamachi wrote himself. Kanata reads the book every day as the informations in the book helps out with Kanata's powers.
Worlds of Haruhi Suzumiya
Kanata was sent on a mission to Haruhi's world because Kelona's fortune telling revealed that if Kanata wasn't at Haruhi's world, the whole fictional universe was in danger of collapsing. Kanata leaves for Haruhi's world with Fuuko Ibuki and Saya Minatsuki as her team members. When Kanata arrives at Haruhi's world, she notices that for some reason all method of sliding out of the world has been blocked. Guessing that this bizarre event has some connection with result of Kelona's fortune telling, she observes Haruhi's world very carefully. Expecting the mission to be a long one and having limited finances, Kanata opens up a clothing store in hopes of covering living expenses for her team and herself.
