Sliders are beings from Celestia that can travel across fictional worlds using the technique called Sliding. All sliders are either fictional characters from various Anime and Manga series or deceased beings from Reality Realm.

Origins
During the War of Celestia, many Demons fled outside of Celestia and started to spread across the Fictional Universe. To track them down, the Sliding technique was developed by the Reapers. Reapers who had mastered these sliding techniques then formed a special team called the Sliders that took care of demons that spread outside of Celestia. After the War of Celestia, Sliders broke off from the reapers and became an independent organization. Kain, the founder/commander of the Slider organization, returned to the Reapers after the war and became the new Shinigami. Because of this, Kain's younger sister Kelona was forced to take over as the commander of the Sliders.
Because there remained little treat of Demons in Celestia after the war. Number of people volunteering to become Reapers to combat demons decreased. On other hand, people volunteering to become Sliders increased because Sliders were still tracking down demons spread across the Fictional Universe.
Job Description
Much like how Canaan Academy trains new Reapers, Fantasia Academy was established for training new sliders. Sliding technique is extremely difficult to master and most of the student life at Fantasia Academy is spent on mastering the technique.
The main job of the sliders is stopping the Dimension Quakes that Demons can cause. However, there are not enough sliders to be assigned to stop the every single dimension quake that occurs. Thus, sliders calculate the magnitude of each quake and handles the more severe quakes first.
It is also sliders' job to fix and regulate the flow of storyline of a Fictional World that becomes disrupted by Demons. When sliders are administering to these fictional worlds, they usually blend in with the original inhabitants of the story. Sliders leave the fictional world that they were assigned to when the original storyline has been fully restored.
Gate Seekers
Collecting materials to build a Gate that connects to a particular fictional world is easier when you are actually in the world that you want the gate to connect to. Because they can travel between fictional worlds without the restriction of the Gates, it became the Sliders' second job to build Gates for people in Celestia that couldn't use the sliding technique. Team of Sliders that travel around fictional worlds to build new Gates are called the Gate Seekers.
Powers
There are some extra gains when mastering the sliding technique. Sliders acquire abilities that are related to their personality and character. Sliders' powers are activated through their own emotions and feelings. Usually each slider can only handle one kind of emotion as his/her power. To activate and use one's own powers at will requires quite a effort and practice. This type of Slider power works in meta-world level.
Sliders also train and hone the character powers that they are either born with, or develop in Celestia. These powers work in proto-world level.
Slider Ranks and levels
Slider organization has various ranks. Ranks are decided by individual accomplishments while levels represent one's skill levels. More about slider ranks at Slider Ranks
