The whole existence of god is explained in this way. In the ancient time, a god was created by humans from human thought and imaginations. Since lots of humans believed in that same religion, of course the being would come to exist inside the fictional realm. The first creation of humanity’s imaginations, a being that was considered ‘god’ by the humans was the character named Solipse. Solipse is recorded in Slider’s archive as only being in the fictional realm that can affect reality; or even travel between the two realms freely. It is not clear if Solipse was male or female.

Tower of Babel was a tower created by humans to reach the heavens. In ‘Worlds of’ series, the tower was actually a huge technological construct that connected the human world to fictional realm. Solipse was afraid that if humans ever found about the fictional realm, humans would try to control Solipse. Therefore, Solipse reluctantly casted a curse on its creators. Mankind became separated by blood, culture and language.

Now that every human individual was separate, their interests were separate also. War broke out amongst humans; because of this, the building of Babel tower was stopped.

The Babel family who funded and started the project was ruined. Still, they did not give up the construction. It took generations, but they finished the tower. However, they found out that no one could activate the tower due to the curse. Tower of Babel could only be activated by the complete and whole human being.

Thus the mission of the Babel bloodline changed, they were to go and unify the separated human race. Their sons and daughters all married into people of different culture, again and again. This was done throughout the history. But because the mission required too much time to complete, most decedents of Babel bloodline eventually forgot about the mission and returned to normal lives.

Solipse was in charge of governing of both fictional realm and the real world. However, because Solipse divided humans into different cultures, the mankind’s image of god was divided as well. Thus, image of Solipse was forgotten by humans eventually and was replaced by their own culture’s image of god. Solipse, unable to stand being forgotten by its creators, put itself to sleep. Method to awaken Solipse again is unknown. It is suspected by the sliders that Solipse still sleeps in deep underground of Celestia.
